Krystian Zimerman / Klavierabend

His concerts are always an event, and all his recordings are regarded as benchmark interpretations. Despite all that, Polish pianist Krystian Zimerman is a quiet star at the keys, one who is devoted entirely to the music and who only gives a few performances each year. Zimerman has not appeared in Hamburg since 2010. All the more exciting then is his performance at the Hamburg International Music Festival, where he is giving one of his exclusive concerts at the Elbphilharmonie.

»When Krystian Zimerman plays, time stands still and you can’t help but hold your breath. In that moment, nothing is more important than this music, than this immediacy behind the notes.« (Hamburger Abendblatt) – Since winning the International Chopin Competition in 1975, Krystian Zimerman has been known as one of the most exceptional pianists of our time.
